Not long ago, we were told the story of Adu Kwesi, Aboagyewaa, and Aboagye—three young siblings whose lives changed overnight.
They had been living with their elderly grandmother, their main source of care and stability. Their mother, who lives with a mental health condition, was unable to care for them, and their father had traveled to a distant village, trying to make ends meet for the family.

Then, tragedy struck—their grandmother passed away.
With no other option, their father had to return and take full responsibility for all three children. Grieving the loss of his mother and suddenly faced with full-time caregiving, he decided to take the children back with him to the village where he had been working.
It was a completely new environment for the children—a strange place, unfamiliar faces, and a fresh start at a time when they were still trying to process their grief.

When we heard their story, it broke our hearts. These children had lost their home, their comfort, and their caregiver—and were now beginning again in a new place with a father trying his best under difficult circumstances.
So we stepped in, in the small way we could.
We put together care boxes for each of the children—filled with love and essentials to help ease their transition. Inside were:
• Toiletries
• Underwear
• Exercise books and learning supplies
• Creams, mirrors, and personal care items
• Non-perishable food to keep them going in the first few days
It may seem like a small gesture—but for a family starting over, it can mean hope. A sign that they are not alone.

At The Ampem Darkoa Foundation, we encounter stories like these all too often—families forced to start from scratch, children adjusting to loss and uncertainty.
If you would like to support similar efforts, you can donate money, food, secondhand clothes, school bags, or even hygiene items to help us build more care boxes for children in crisis.
Your kindness could be the helping hand a struggling family desperately needs.
Let’s keep showing up for them—together.
